‘Parallel Lives’ 2 Nights Celebrating the Centennial’s of Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf. Nona Hendryx leads singers and musicians singing the songs of 2 Iconic Artist. Billie and Edith became the voices of their generation, influencing thousands singers, musicians, painters and writers; artists in every artistic disciplin around the world. (Two women born 6 months apart, to two different parents, who spoke two different languages, of different ethnicity living on two different cities divided by 3,500 miles, who’s lives are ‘parallel’ and who with their voices and songs represented the joie de vivre (joy of life) and the ‘toucher le fond du désespoir’ (depths of despair) during their time; Billie Holiday aka ‘Lady Day’ nee (Elenora Fagan) April 7th 1915 and Edith Piaf aka La Mome Piaf, (‘The Little Sparrow’) nee Edith Giovanna Gassion, December 19, 1915.
They died 4 years apart in the cities they loved, on their separate shores.)
Questions in my mind: Did they ever meet? If they did, what would they say, do, feel, share? Would they sing, to break the ice?
