Celebrate with WPFW and Bethesda Blues Jazz presenting a Holiday fundraising bash featuring Nona Hendryx and Mamafunk, Friday, December 20th, at 8pm.  At 6pm, WPFW's own DJ Lance Reynolds sets the stage with a soul/funk set.

In the spirit of two fisted political singer songwriters Nina Simone and Joni Mitchell, Nona Hendryx tackles social issues, love and politics with a smoky vocal palette somewhere between funk and the end of the stratosphere. Hendryx’s legendary career spans six decades of sound, beginning as a founding member of Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles morphing into the Rock Funk Glam Diva's Labelle.  Nona Hendryx remains the Queen of Transformation. still writing music across genres with politically and socially relevant lyrics wrapped in neo-funk grooves, avant soulful vocals, and art-rock charged rhythms.
